Since 2019, under the tutelage of David Antilley, James Stanfield raised the bar for sports broadcasting at Northwestern State University.
After quickly graduating from camera operation, Stanfield took the director's chair for most broadcasts on NSU-TV Sports, and quickly enhancing the homebrew operation for the next three years. During this time, baseball and softball productions became more automated, included more cameras, and, for the first time at baseball, introduced a center-field camera.
In the summer of 2022, Stanfield was hired on by NSU to be the Coordinator of ESPN Productions, along with the arrival of a brand-new ESPN-digital ready mobile production unit. NSU made the switch from the homebrew NSU-TV Sports operation to doing all live sports productions on ESPN3 and ESPN+. That fall, NSU, under Stanfield's direction, produced the broadcasts for the 2022 Southland Conference Soccer Championship.
Fans of current and former Southland Conference and in-state rival schools have noted the high quality and neutrality of NSU ESPN+ broadcasts produced by Stanfield and his crew of students (and his dad).
